Cruise Gate Hamburg (CGH) is a subsidiary wholly owned by Hamburg Port Authority (HPA). As the terminal operator of Hamburg´s three cruise centers (Altona, HafenCity and Steinwerder), CGH is in charge of the berthing allocation and terminal operations. The company is the central point of contact for all cruise line companies. This extends to include business development as well as international marketing and promotion of the destination Hamburg.
Hamburg continues to play a pioneering role as a sustainable cruise destination. The City´s foremost interest is to establish a sustainable cruise tourism for the city – in economic, ecological and social terms. Hamburg’s government, the Senate, supports that aim having recently adopted a resolution to expand the city’s shore power infrastructure by 2023 by equipping the Steinwerder and the new HafenCity terminal with a shore power station. At the Altona Cruise Center, cruise liners have been able to dock on the shore power system since 2016.
